Digital Technology
At AS level I used many different programs to produce my production. These included Final Cut, imovie, Photoshop, Garageband and Livetype. I also used mini DVD cameras and macs to film and edit my opening sequence. These skills I acquired helped me to create titles appropriate to the film noir genre, create an appropriate soundtrack and helped to edit the film together. I will develop these skills in A2 by using more effects in final cut to make my music video better and broaden my editing skills.
Post Production
To create my production I used mini DVD cameras and macs. These skills helped to contribute to the creation of my product as I was able to use features such as rendering, the in and out markers and the colour wheel. To develop these skills in A2 I will make my work stand out from others by using other programs.
Research and Planning
To reasearch for my product I did BBFC research, an analysis of an opening sequence, audience research, a titles timeline, a 9 frame analysis, a risk assessment and an anamatic. The planning helped to smooth the progression of the film however as my group were very unorganised we still had difficulty. We didn't keep to the deadlines so to improve in A2 I will improve on time keeping, do more planning and keep to the deadlines.
Using conventions of real media texts
I analysed opening sequences from films of the film noir genre such as LA Confidential and Sunset Boulevard. This gave a better idea of some of the generic conventions of film noir that should be in the opening sequence. To improve these skills in A2 I will try to challenge the conventions of the music genre which i choose so that the music video is more original
Creativity
Although we had some original ideas, we tended to follow the conventions so our film was not very creative. As we followed the conventions this made the opening sequence fit into the genre of film noir however to improve in A2, I will have better ideas and plan more efficiently so that we do not have to follow all of the conventions of the particular genre and can try to challenge some of them.
